Senate Screens Amaechi And Four Others

The Nigeria Senate has completed the screening of the former governor of Rivers state, Rotimi Amaechi, Professor Claudius Daramola,Ocholi Enojo James, Honourable Baba Mustapha and Heineken Lokpobiri during the plenary session earlier today.

During the questioning from the senate, Amaechi cleared the air about the corruption allegations flying around, he declared ''Panel reports did not indict me". He spoke further, "I have never taken bribe in my life; whether I become a minster or not, this will go on in my history books that I once addressed the Senators of the Federal Republic of Nigeria".

"And under my leadership as the governor of Rivers state, we redefined governance and repositioned Port-Harcourt".

The Senate, however, adjourned plenary session till Tuesday 27th of October, when the screening of the other ministerial nominees will continue.
 

SENATE Screens Adebayo Shittu and Bukar Ibrahim

The Nigeria senate has screened of two out of the three ministerial nominees that was initially slated for Tuesday, 20^th of October.

The screening exercise which began at about 12 P.M at the senate chambers, was chaired by the Senate president, Bukola Saraki, and ensured that both Barrister Adebayo Shittu, state and Honourable (Mrs.) Kadijat Bukar Ibrahim, were successfully and thoroughly screened.

Barrister Shittu, who was a former Attorney-general of Oyo state, when asked to confirm the allegation of having been indicted for religious intolerance by a panel of inquiry in the past, he said “I have never been indicted by any panel of religious intolerance; I was not invited by any panel”.

Speaking further while attending to more questions from the senators, as regarding religious challenges in the country, he explained “Nigerains must be moralized and be closer to God, because a lot of people are religious and not godly”.

The screening for the second nominee of the day, Mrs. Kadijat Ibrahim, however, took a less thorough format, going by the fact that she was a three-time house of representative member, a former commissioner in Yobe state, and the wife to a former governor of Yobe and currently a member of the 8^th Senate, Senator Bukar Ibrahim.  

The senate afterwards adjourned plenary till Wednesday, 21^st of October, when the screening of the other nominees will continue. The third nominee that was also to be screened didn't show up, and no reason was given for the absence.
