Ojukwu Jnr abandons APGA for APC ahead of governorship election

This statement was made by Emeka Ojukwu Junior, the son of the former leader of Biafra, late Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, in Awka. He said this at the grand finale campaign of the APC candidate for the Anambra 2017 governorship election, Dr Tony Nwoye, on Wednesday, 15th of October, 2017.

This came just few days before the Anambra governorship election, as the Ojukwu Jnr, abandoned APGA, the party his father founded, and moved to the APC. 


Mr Emeka Ojukwu jnr, son of the founder of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), late Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, has officially dumped the party for the All Progressives Congress (APC), according to NAN reports.

He stated that APGA is a means to an end but not an end itself; and disclosed that he chose to move over to the APC in order to protect the interest of Ndigbo He stated: “It is time to leave the shadows for light. Every now and then, they come out with my father’s shadow to confuse the people.” 

He said further, that the reason why his father joined the National Party of Nigeria in the Second Republic was to ensure that Igbo people remained in the mainstream of Nigerian politics. “Mr President, I am proud to stand here today in support of you and in solidarity with the APC and our candidate, Tony Nwoye,” he added.
